Pre insulated pipes - technical specifications

Service pipes

  • Steel pipes with dimensions ≤ DN 50: P235TR1 according to EN 10217-1 or thereby equivalent.
  • Steel pipes with dimensions ≥ DN 65: P235GH according to EN10217-2, -5 or thereby equivalent.

Material certificate according to EN 10204/3.1B will be available if requested when ordering.

Insulation

The insulation is made up of hard cellular plastic of polyurethane with excellent heat-insulating properties, good mechanical properties and good resistance against aging. The thermal conductivity is 0,026 W/mK and the insulation fulfils all technical requirements according to EN 253.

Material: polyurethane foam manufactured from polyol and isocyanate.
Propellant: cyclopentane.

Casings

All casings are made of high-density polyethylene at the Powerpipe plant in Goteborg.

The pipes fulfil the technical requirements according to EN 253 and are stabilized against thermal, chemical, oxidative or similar degradation. All casings are corona treated during the extrusion process.

Material:  High-density polyethylene (HDPE)
Density:  > 944 kg/ m3
Thickness of material:  according to EN 253

Pipes with a casing diameter bigger than 560 mm shall be treated with special caution, when the temperature is between 0 and -20 °C. The pipes shouldn’t be handled when the temperature is below -20 °C, without asking Powerpipe for advice.

Insulated fittings

All fittings fulfil the technical requirements in EN 448 and are dimensioned to withstand the stresses that usually occur in a district heating system.

Steel bends

Steel bends are either bent or welded according to EN 10253-2. The material follows the standards P235 TR1 or P235GH according to EN 10217-1,2.

T-pieces

T-pieces are manufactured according to the guidelines in EN 13941 and are dimensioned to withstand pressure according to EN 13480.

Valves

The valves in our line of products are designed according to the requirements in EN 488.

Joints

Powerpipe supplies a variety of joints. All fulfil the technical requirements in EN 489 and have passed a sand box test.

  • Electro fusion welded joint.
  • Single sealing shrinkable sleeve.
  • Double expanding shrinkable sleeve.
  • Double sealing shrinkable sleeve.

Weld joint

  • Single sealing shrinkable sleeve.
  • Double expanding shrinkable sleeve.
  • Double sealing shrinkable sleeve.

The material in the joints is high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and PEX sleeves are made up of a cross-linked polymer. The majority of joints are installed by means of a soft gas torch and the electro fusion welded joints are put together using electric welding equipment.
